What is an RESP?

A Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) is a savings vehicle designed to help you, future parents, parents, grandparents and friends, to plan for the post-secondary education of a child, regardless of your level of income. In addition to offering generous government allowances, an RESP is a tax shelter: the investment returns on your savings are tax free.

For as little as $11.75 per month, you could subscribe to a Universitas Trust Funds RESP. These few dollars are a great start to offering your child the exceptional opportunity to pursue their studies.

> I’m investing now for their future

When should you start to save? The answer is simple: the sooner the better! Time is a factor which plays a critical role with regard to the amount that will accumulate for your child.

The proof? If you invest in an RESP as soon as your child is born, the amount accumulated for their studies could be three times greater than if you started investing when they are 6 years old. Don’t wait any longer! Act now for your children’s future!

*** This amount includes:
• The capital saved
• The accumulated income on the savings. This income is based on the returns of the Universitas plan received for the first
  three scholarships paid to beneficiaries of the 2006 cohort;
• CESG, QESI and their accumulated interest according to a net estimated return of 6%, compounded monthly
• The amounts of the CESG and the QESI calculated in accordance with a family income of $60,000 giving an entitlement
  to a CESG of 30% and a QESI of 15%
N.B. The past returns presented here are not a guarantee of future performance. The QESI is only available in the Province of Quebec.
